Transparent, Concise, and Fair.
The use of buyer agency agreements protects both you and us as your buyer agent. Agency agreements clearly define agent's roles for the buyer and the cost of their services. In other words, agency agreements create transparency for the buyer. Starting in July 2024, NAR will require buyer agency agreements to be executed before showing a property to the buyer. While this rule is subject to change, we can safely plan for it to be implemented in July.
Representation in a real estate transaction is essential for both parties. As a buyer, if you work directly with the listing agent, that agent is 100% obligated by law to work in the seller’s best interest. A seller can take advantage of an unrepresented buyer in multiple ways, especially in property valuation and negotiations. Employing the services of a well-educated buyer’s agent might be a short-term cost but can save thousands of dollars in the long term.
